This workshop is two days of exploration into the Elements of Art & Design, and how to incorporate them into our work.

  • We’ll look at how textiles artists use these Elements in their work for inspiration in finding our own voice.
  • The language of Design serves as our map, our guide through exercises designed to inspire inquiry: on starting a piece, how to edit, and when to know the work is complete.
  • There are ways to get things moving again, when we find ourselves stuck
  • We’ll explore ways to put our own fingerprint on learned techniques and skills.

The workshop begins with a presentation on an edited list of influential textile artists, their design aesthetics, and their resulting voice(s.)

Participants are requested to bring a work in progress OR an idea ready to spark OR a finished piece for review/edit. Any and all.

Using design language, we review and critique our own work and others.
