The Mourning Project Panel Party

The Mourning Project Panel Party

Saturday: February 8, 2020
11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
at the studio: 2456 N. Pantano Road, Tucson (ne corner of Wrightstown and Pantano)

It’s a Party, so bring a friend (or two)!

Mary Vaneecke is an Artist, Author, Founder of, and one I’m honored to call Friend.

Mary’s been working on over the past year. She’s held baby bootie making parties all around the country. And she’s doing all this to bring awareness to the infant mortality rate of the United States. Sad to say, it’s the highest in the developed world.

It’s a subject hard to turn away from, and participants from all over have contributed towards the goal of 23,000 pair of baby booties. Each pair represents a child who did not make it through their first year on this planet.

Mary has an installation planned for April 18 at the Phoenix March of Dimes. It’s a big accomplishment and a big project. You can read more about it and get the forms to participate on her site:

So join us here at the studio, on the second Saturday in February. We’re gathering to stitch these booties onto panels for the Phoenix installation.

Helping hands and camaraderie are requested. No sewing experience necessary. (There are always plenty of “things to do” at these gatherings.)
We’ve got the supplies, seating, snacks and drinks. We need you!

At the least, stop by and cheer us on as the 38′ x 38′ (that’s right, 38 foot square) image you see above, takes shape.
